Ok. So the surgery was a success, the used a tendon from my hamstring, folded it into 4 and used a button type device to hold it in place on the top. The bottom part of the ACL is held in place with staples.(to be removed after 12months if I want). They drilled holes in the bone to thread the homemade-hamstring-acl through.
Very little pain suprisingly!
Had my first rehab session today, wanted to do more but doc said leave it to him! He will get me ready for being able to return to karate while I teach him english!
Now onto the not so good news.
I have been running an average 38-39 degree fever fot the past 4 days. Apparrently 3 days is normal to run a fever so not too fussed there...
...I haven't had a full nights sleep, just the occassional hour or two here and there...
...I have almost no appetite, and no caffine or protein in Japanese hospital food makes keeping energy levels up difficult...
...and the suckiest part, I have some kind of infection in my lower back above my butt that has hardened and is extruciatingly painfull!! If not for this infection I would acually feel somewhat human!! (and I can't let my lower back connect with anything, so sitting is painfull)

Last weekend
So tomorrow is my last day of work, and this will be my last weekend walking (hopefully only for a short while).
Monday is hospital check-in, and the magic will happen Tuesday!
Wish me luck!

One week left...
Yesterday was the final training day/lesson. Gave students "homework" so to speak. That way they continue training even though I am unable to instruct them personally.
This time next week I will be checking into hospital and then surgery will be happening on the tuesday.
Stuck in a bed for who knows how long is gonna drive me up the wall....add to that the lack of adequate caffine and protein food...gonna be a very unhappy chappy for a few weeks!!
Plus side...maybe I can lose some weight!

Last training before surgery.
So, tomorrow will be the last training session for me and my students before I undergo surgery.
Somewhat excited yet apprehensive.
Excited by the prospect of being able to return to normal teaching and training at my dojo and being able to resume training with Gensei-ryu Karate-do Butokukai later in the year, and (hopefully) receive Japan Karate-do Federation certification. But mostly, being able to kick, roll and put weight on my knee again!!
Apprensive by the fact that with every surgery there is a risk, however small, that the surgery could fail or even make my knee worse.
All this plus the fact I will become a father later in the year just gives me the fire to succeed, become a better karate-ka (and hopefully father) no matter how long and painful my recovery may be.
